Associate Attorney

(New York, NY)

Our Manhattan office is seeking an Associate Attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to take on engaging, substantive responsibilities as part of a litigation team within a regional firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation, including construction, healthcare, medical malpractice and general liability claims from initiation to trial
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions and case management conferences
  • Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations
  • Draft discovery demands and responses, motions, case evaluations summaries, settlement agreements, pleadings, and legal memoranda

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York
  • 1-3 years  litigation experience
  • Experience drafting briefs and pleadings, taking and defending depositions and arguing motions in court
  • Excellent Writing and organizational skills, and comfortable with a demanding environment

Calendar/Settlement Clerk

(New York, NY)

Our Manhattan office seeks a candidate with of 2+ experiences with calendar management in a law firm. Position requires a broad range of secretarial, document processing and administrative support to attorneys and clients where superior client service is emphasized and practiced. This position requires knowledge of legal terminology and procedures, and applicable technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and coordinate the Asbestos Unit court calendar
  • Review emails, etrack, ecourts, and NYCAL website for deposition notices, conference orders, court dates, vacations, motion dates, TRO deadlines, adjournments, and time and location changes
  • Ensure all orders are properly entered
  • Draft initial calendar and review for accuracy
  • Drafting releases and addendum from templates
  • Communicating with Clients
  • Reviewing executed release documents, forms and stipulations of discontinuance

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Legal Studies or related field
  • 2+ years’ experience in calendar management in a law firm
  • Typing speed minimum 75 words per minute
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Keen attention to detail
