’On Saturday, October 5, 2019, Partner Patrick Kenny, participated in a fundraiser and awareness walk, the Out of Darkness Brooklyn Walk for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention (AFSP) with his family at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn, New York.
There were 51 teams, totaling 417 participants, The event raised $45,854.06, namely Patrick’s team, a top fundraiser, raised $1,550.00 for this walk.
Currently, suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the United States. With the recent headline news of suicide deaths by New York City police officers, which has risen to ten this year, suicide awareness and prevention is crucial by offering a listening ear, hope, compassion and treatment. AFSP, a nationwide non-profit organization which was established in 1987, has helped save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide through research, education and advocacy.
